Post-Tensioned Subterranean Parking:
TME is an expert in designing crack controlled post-tensioned flat slab.
Flat slabs have no beams. Without beams, the depth of excavation and the height
of retaining wall can be reduced by as much as 21 inches. The
precipitating result is the "economy
of design". All concrete slabs crack, but a well designed PT slab
can substantially reduce the crack potential. The key in crack
control resides in the structural engineer’s experience to recognize the
concrete crack mechanism and provide the means to reduce the crack potential.
Recently, TME was retained to provide peer review of a post-tensioned car
dealer commercial building designed by others. TME’s review focused on
two important areas of design i.e. structural system and crack control. TME recommended some changes of structural systems which resulted
in reduced construction cost and crack potential. If you like to
know more please call Jan Ma, structural engineer at (800) 298 5522.
